Hi,

do starexec nodes have outside net access?
Can my solver send an http request and get an answer?

I figured that this is actually easy to test: upload any solver and add a "configuration" that is a shell script that just sends the request (e.g., wget http://xkcd.org/) . well I just did, and the result is (unsurprisingly)

0.00/0.03 --2014-06-23 02:58:24-- http://xkcd.org/
0.00/0.04 Resolving xkcd.org... 107.6.106.82
0.00/0.09 Connecting to xkcd.org|107.6.106.82|:80... failed: No route to host.
0.00/0.09 EOF

actually not completely unsurprising because the address was resolved.

It seems that the sysadmins forgot to disable DNS resolution.
