Invalid characters in description

There seems to be a severe restriction in the character set that is allowed in descriptions. I had several errors while trying to enter descriptions for a solver, and also for a job. I eventually managed to get Star-Exec to accept a description when 1) it is empty, or 2) it only contains lowercase ASCII characters.

P.S. These problems occured with Firefox 29.0 on Ubuntu.

Sorry for the late response, but yes, unfortunately the character set for descriptions had to be significantly limited due to security concerns. A lot of characters, including periods and brackets, can be treated as meta-characters by HTML, which can make them unsafe to display.

We'll start posting the character limitations for descriptions and other inputs in the help pages so it is more transparent in the future.
