How to upload pre-processors?
Hi,
What is the precise expected format in which pre-processors should be uploaded? As a single executable file (with a specific filename?), or as an archive (with specific contents)?
Best,
Tjark

Re: How to upload pre-processors?
Hi, Tjark. As described in the User Guide, all processors (benchmark processors, pre-processors, and post-processors) have the same format, which we improved recently: you upload an archive (zip file) where in the top-level directory (.), you have a "process" program or script, which may invoke other programs included in the archive, by relative path.

I see now that this is described in the Terminology section of the user guide. My fault for only reading the section on Pre-processors earlier. Thanks for your reply.

Ah!
(This change also means that all "old" post-processors are broken now?)
Can you please define a specific place for such announcements (without discussion) (e.g., a sub-forum here, where only you can post)

Re: How to upload pre-processors?
Hi, Johannes.
No, the old post-processors were automatically ported to the new format. They should all still work.
I am generally posting announcements on the blog:
http://starexec.wordpress.com/
Usually new features or bug fixes are mentioned in comments about a new deployment.

I see. Can you make the titles of these posts more descriptive? - J.

Re: How to upload pre-processors?
If you mean can I summarize new features in the title, the answer is that to do so the title would likely become quite long, so I don't think that will work. Usually I just note that we have redeployed, or that there is some other problem (like StarExec is down, as at the moment). When we redeploy, there are always either new features or bug fixes available.

OK, confirmed.
(I was hit by another side effect of the update, https://starexec.forumotion.com/t60-restore-file-extension-for-renamed-benchmarks , but I fixed my solver and processor meanwhile)

so be it .. I see that you are doing it now, e.g., http://starexec.wordpress.com/2014/06/10/deploy-planned-for-tomorrow-queues-expected-result-starexec_build/ , thanks very much.
still, "there are several other small bug fixes and usability improvements" (quote from that blog post) is sorta, well, non-descript. One man's "small bug fix" may be another man's "feature that saves-the-day"...
