delete/remove/recycle
Hi,
I wonder if the different options/behaviour when deleting
(a) jobs and (b) solvers and (c) benchmarks is desired.
For (a) there are the options (i) delete permanently and (ii) remove. How does the behaviour differ?
In neither option the job is in the cycle bin. I accidently used (ii) since I wanted to cancel a (too)
large job but the jobpairs are still in the queue. I wonder if there is any possibility to remove them from the queue.
Edit: I found a solution: The job can still be accessed by clicking on a job-pair in the queue. Then it can be deleted.
Still I wonder if this behaviour is desired.
Harald.

Re: delete/remove/recycle
Hi, Harald.
I also noticed that we do not include jobs on the recycle bin page. I will have us change that to be consistent with the behavior for solver and benchmarks.
"Removing" a job (or other primitive: solver or benchmark) from a space does not do anything to the job itself. It just removes the association between that job and the space it was in (the job can still be in other spaces). Deleting the job permanently is supposed to cancel the running job pairs. Pausing is also supposed to cancel running job pairs, by the way, and also remove enqueued job pairs. Pausing is re-enabled now on StarExec, so try this out and let me know if it doesn't seem to work.

Re: delete/remove/recycle
Hi again, Harald. Actually, I just remembered that jobs will appear on your profile page (choose Account from the menus at the top of any page, and then Profile). So you can see them there. Currently this does not include deleted jobs.

Re: delete/remove/recycle
Thanks for clarification, Aaron. Now I see the difference. Still I recommend to make the behaviour/naming uniform and the help texts clearer. Others might also benefit
https://starexec.forumotion.com/t97-no-recycling-for-things-that-are-still-referenced
https://starexec.forumotion.com/t102-remove-solver-benchmark-job
Just a suggestion (as I now understand it):
remove ... remove from space but keep in user profile
recycle ... remove from space and user profile but move to recycle bin
delete ... remove from space and user profile and do not move to recycle bin
I'd rather prefer "drop" over "remove" (since it sounds weaker). Furthermore
items are hard to delete from the user profile but that might be intended.
Clearly these things are for (well) after the olympic games ...
Harald.
